Goodwood’s 2010 Festival of Speed will bring the irresistible combination of cool car and feted rock star to life as an impressive line-up of rock guitar legends appear with their own distinctive and cherished cars and guitars, and play a memorable and unique guitar solo live to the Festival of Speed enthusiast.
Guitar legends to perform a live ‘Guitar Moment’ include Jeff Beck, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and blues legend Jimmie Vaughn. These and other rock stars own distinctive cars will be on display for very first time, including Billy Gibbons’ 23 foot CadZZilla. A display of each musician’s rare signature guitars, along with their cars, will be on show in the Cricket Pitch area. Other fabulous cars owned by rock legends will include Eric Clapton’s custom ’49 Ford and a wild Auburn Speedster owned by Metallica front man James Hetfield. Make a date with the rock greats! Each disc to be played around the appropriate featured car, accompanied by a bespoke radio show compiled by DJ legend Johnnie Walker, plus girls dancing to each tune. In addition, some highly distinctive cars owned by rock guitarists will also be displayed, along with a each musician’s rare signature guitar. This special display supports the exceptional ‘Cars, Stars and Guitars’ musical ‘moments’ with top car-loving guitarists set to perform live at this year’s Festival of Speed, including Jeff Beck, ZZ Top founder Billy Gibbons and leading American blues guitarist Jimmie Vaughn. Each of these musicians will play live at the event, appearing with their famous custom cars and signature guitars, including Billy Gibbons amazing CadZZilla, and Jimmie Vaughn’s pistachio green 1961 Cadillac. Festival visitors will also be able to admire the amazing Voxmobile for the first time ever outside the USA. Built by California custom car building legend George Barris in the late 1960s, the guitar-shaped Voxmobile roadster seats two, and acts as a giant amplifier with 32 input jacks to plug in compatible VOX guitars.
